BACALAR LAGOON

Stromatolites are one of the most valued ecosystems and you can found it in one of the most beautiful places in the Yucatan Peninsula.  Come explore the magical town of Bacalar located on Lake Bacalar, also called the Lagoon of Seven Colors due to the amazing spectrum of blue and turquoise hues.  Bacalar is a place where pictures do not give merit to what our eyes can appreciate.  Take in the beauty as you kayak through the crystal clear waters of the lagoon and jump in; some areas are only waist deep.

Learn Bacalar’s history by visiting Fort San Felipe and San Joaquin Parish Church that was built in the 18th Century.  End your visit lounging on one of the many docks covered in thatched palm huts surrounding the lagoon.  See if you can count the lagoon’s 7 colors.
